This summer, the city of Trieste will come alive with the vibrant sounds of its native dialect as “R…Estate In Armonia 2024” takes the stage from June 22 to August 17. Set in the picturesque Teatrino Basaglia, located within the lush San Giovanni Park, the festival celebrates the rich cultural heritage of the Triestino dialect through a series of engaging theatrical performances.

On Tuesday, local officials and representatives from L’Armonia Aps – the Association of Triestine Theater Companies – gathered at the Bazlen Room in Palazzo Gopcevich to unveil the lineup. Deputy Mayor Serena Tonel, who oversees the city’s theaters, lauded the initiative, emphasizing the festival’s integral role in Trieste’s cultural tapestry.

“The success of theater in Trieste is deeply intertwined with L’Armonia Aps and dialect theater,” Ms. Tonel remarked. “The positive audience response is part of a broader cultural mosaic. This summer, L’Armonia Aps takes center stage in a refreshing and beautiful setting provided for the community.”

Indeed, the Teatrino Basaglia, with its open-air charm, offers a fitting venue for the festival, ensuring that the performances resonate with both locals and visitors. This summer’s festival, sponsored by the Municipality of Trieste, forms part of the “L’Armonia Teatro Amatoriale” project, supported by the Regional Association FITA-UILT FVG APS and ERPAC FVG.

The summer series features nine comedies from the 39th Season of Triestino Dialect Theater, each promising to captivate audiences with its unique blend of humor and local flair. Performances begin at 9 PM, with provisions for indoor staging in case of inclement weather. Tickets, priced at €8.00, are available at TICKETPOINT in Corso Italia – Galleria Rossoni (Trieste) or online.

As the festival unfolds, anticipation builds for the upcoming 40th Season of Triestino Dialect Theater, set to commence in September 2024. The new season will also be hosted at Teatrino Basaglia, marking a shift from its previous venue, Teatro Silvio Pellico.
