“You represent the value of the Italian presence in the United States and, at the same time, an extraordinary opportunity for connection between Italy and the USA,” Fedriga declared, setting a tone of mutual respect and collaboration.

“If we do not do this,” he concluded, “the risk is that we fall into a state of isolation and remain prey to decisions made by countries that do not recognize the Western ideals of democracy and freedom.”
