Amidst the picturesque surroundings of San Giovanni Park, the stage is set for Bioest 2024, a venerable celebration of sustainability and community spirit. Scheduled for Saturday, June 15, and Sunday, June 16, this year’s edition promises an array of natural and organic products, enriching cultural activities, and insightful workshops, all against the backdrop of Trieste’s historic charm.
In a press conference held at the Giunta Room, key figures including Deputy Mayor Serena Tonel and Economic Policies Councilor Serena Tonel, alongside representatives from the Bioest association, outlined the event’s significance. They underscored Bioest’s longstanding commitment to environmental stewardship and its role in promoting lifestyle changes that resonate deeply with contemporary concerns.
“The Bioest event,” noted Deputy Mayor Serena Tonel, “pioneered discussions on sustainability over three decades ago, topics that have now become essential in shaping our daily lives with minimal environmental impact. We commend the Bioest association for fostering not just a marketplace but a platform for cultural dialogue and community enrichment.”
The festivities will commence with an official inauguration ceremony on Saturday at 10 AM, adjacent to the park’s quaint church square. Spanning ten designated areas within San Giovanni Park — from Prato and Glicine to the Sala Villas and beyond — Bioest 2024 promises to captivate visitors with offerings from over 150 exhibitors. These artisans hail not only from various parts of Italy but also from Slovenia, Croatia, and Austria, showcasing a diverse tapestry of sustainable practices and artisanal crafts.
Among the highlights are 44 participating associations hosting free workshops and activities spanning literature, Chinese medicine, eco-building, and mindfulness, ensuring there’s something for everyone seeking to deepen their engagement with sustainable living.
For accessibility, Bioest 2024 is conveniently serviced by bus lines 12 and 17, offering direct routes to the park’s entrance. Additionally, stewards will be on hand to assist with parking, while designated areas will cater to visitors with reduced mobility.
To accommodate the event’s scale, temporary traffic measures have been implemented by the Municipality of Trieste, ensuring smooth access to and from San Giovanni Park. Details of these arrangements can be found here.
