A new initiative titled “Flavors of Friuli Venezia Giulia” aims to bring the region’s culinary excellence directly to the public, integrating local product sales with immersive food experiences.

Governor Massimiliano Fedriga announced the program today at the Regional Palace, accompanied by Sergio Emidio Bini, the Councillor for Productive Activities and Tourism. The project features a ten-stop tour of a specially equipped truck, designed to host live cooking demonstrations and tastings. This mobile gastronomic showcase will spotlight local products and their artisans, highlighting the region’s rich heritage of quality, knowledge, and traditions.

“We are a small region with an enormous diversity to celebrate, both in our culinary and vinicultural traditions,” Mr. Fedriga said. “This initiative adds significant value to our tourist economy, emphasizing quality over mass tourism, and promoting products that are not only delicious but also healthful, sourced locally.”

Mr. Bini praised the project as a successful collaboration between public and private sectors. He highlighted the involvement of Despar Nord, a supermarket chain that has benefited from and contributed to the local economy.

“Flavors of Friuli Venezia Giulia,” organized by the Agrifood FVG Foundation in partnership with PromoTurismoFVG, will commence on June 23 in Lignano Sabbiadoro. The tour will then proceed to Sappada, Malborghetto, Majano, Trieste, Pordenone, Tolmezzo, Udine, Gemona, and conclude in Gorizia on December 7 and 8.

Pier Giorgio Sturlese, president of the Agrifood Foundation, joined the announcement alongside Fabrizio Cicero, regional director of Despar Nord. Mr. Sturlese noted that the “Io Sono Friuli Venezia Giulia” brand, which supports this initiative, is growing steadily and now represents over 750 companies and more than a thousand products.

As the truck traverses the region, it will not only provide a platform for local producers but also invite residents and visitors alike to explore and appreciate the culinary richness of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
