The waters in Trieste, which had taken on an unsettling white hue earlier this week, are showing signs of gradual improvement, as per our lates footage this Saturday, 22 June.
On Wednesday morning, residents and visitors to Molo Audace were greeted by an unusual sight: the typically clear waters had transformed into a milky, white expanse. This phenomenon, which intensified further on Thursday, has been attributed to rare mucilaginous emulsions, a substance that has increasingly been documented across the Upper Adriatic Sea.
The sudden appearance of these emulsions prompted swift action and interest from the scientific community. Researchers from the Miramare Marine Bioreserve, along with other local research institutions, have been closely monitoring the situation. Their preliminary findings suggest that these mucilaginous substances, while visually alarming, do not pose an immediate threat to marine life or human health.
Videography captured over the past few days indicates that the waters are beginning to clear, a sign that the situation is improving. The footage shows a noticeable reduction in the intensity of the white hue, offering a reassuring update to both residents and environmentalists concerned about the sudden change in the marine environment.
