In a significant step towards fostering international business relations, a new collaboration between the Friuli Venezia Giulia (FVG) region and the state of Virginia has been announced. This partnership aims to enhance growth opportunities for regional enterprises, attracting new investments and generating economic development and employment.

The announcement was made on Friday in Trieste during a meeting with representatives from the Virginia Small Business Development Center (SBDC), a U.S. organization dedicated to boosting investment attractiveness and fostering international business collaborations. The meeting, held in Trieste, also featured presentations from 20 American companies keen on exploring and fostering business relationships with the FVG region.

“We strongly believe in the relationship with the United States,” Governor Massimiliano Fedriga stated. “Pursuing this goal, we have initiated a collaboration with the government of Virginia. Through this partnership, we aim to strengthen growth opportunities for regional businesses, attracting new investments and generating economic growth and employment.”

The collaboration marks a significant step forward since the initial meeting with the Governor of Virginia last April, which set in motion a series of exploratory discussions focused on mutual exchange and potential business and technological innovation partnerships.

Following the presentations, the SBDC delegation spent several days touring various entrepreneurial ventures in the region. They expressed particular interest in sectors beyond the agri-food industry, such as research, cybersecurity, and biomedical fields.

Governor Fedriga elaborated on the objectives of this new initiative, noting, “All of this is aimed at signing an agreement between the Region and the state of Virginia to create a platform where businesses can engage and create growth opportunities.”

As both regions look to capitalize on this budding partnership, the emphasis remains on creating sustainable economic pathways and fostering a robust environment for innovation and business growth. The initiative promises to open new avenues for regional enterprises, facilitating a dynamic exchange of ideas and resources between FVG and Virginia.
