At the heart of the story is Mimma, an Italian journalist compelled to flee due to her anti-fascist propaganda efforts. She finds refuge with her uncle Lorenzo, who owns a jazz club in Soho. The narrative unfolds against a backdrop of persecution, heroism, arrests, and deportations, with a steadfast focus on the enduring power of friendship as a source of hope in the darkest of times.
