The Regional Government of Friuli Venezia Giulia has announced a public auction for the sale of 10 parking spaces at the Sant’Andrea multi-story car park on Via Carli, as part of an ongoing effort to optimize urban space in this historic port city.
Located on the second underground level of the Sant’Andrea complex, the parking spaces are situated in Block L – Level S2, a well-situated area that boasts pedestrian exits to both Via Carli and Via Locchi. The coveted parking spots have been appraised at a collective value of €162,000 ($176,000), which will serve as the minimum starting bid.
The sale represents an effort to address the growing demand for secure and convenient parking in Trieste’s busy urban center. “Sant’Andrea” offers a unique opportunity for prospective buyers, situated within walking distance of prominent landmarks, businesses, and residential quarters.
To participate in the auction, prospective bidders are required to submit offers through the eProcurement platform “eAppaltiFVG,” with a strict deadline set for September 27, 2024, at 1:00 PM local time. The process, designed to ensure transparency and accessibility, will be conducted entirely online through the Friuli Venezia Giulia Regional Contracting Authorities Portal.
A deposit of 10 percent of the bid amount will be required to enter the auction, and registration on the eProcurement platform is both mandatory and free of charge. The sale underscores the growing trend of governments using digital platforms to streamline public auctions, reflecting broader shifts toward digitalization across Italy’s public sector.
As urban planners look to reshape Trieste’s infrastructure, this auction could serve as a bellwether for future development initiatives aimed at accommodating both residents and the growing influx of tourists.
