In a significant move to bolster healthcare services, the Regional Council has announced a plan to train 1,400 new Social and Health Care Workers (OSS) over the next two years. This initiative, proposed by Labor Councillor Alessia Rosolen and endorsed by Health Councillor Riccardo Riccardi, aims to address the growing need for healthcare professionals through a series of targeted training programs.
The Council has approved the allocation of €9.4 million from the European Social Fund Plus under Program No. 15/24 for this purpose. Over the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 periods, 20 training courses will be offered each year by accredited training organizations. Additionally, local health agencies will organize six courses per cycle.
In a novel approach, the program will also include up to three experimental courses per year, funded by external entities and managed by the accredited training bodies. To further support ongoing professional development, a minimum of three supplementary training courses in healthcare will be available for those who already hold qualifications.
Councillors Rosolen and Riccardi highlighted that this year’s initiative marks a departure from previous practices by extending the funding and training plans across two fiscal years. “This adjustment is designed to ensure that training programs can commence at multiple points throughout the year, rather than just once annually,” they said. “This change responds to the needs expressed by social cooperation groups and aims to improve the availability and timing of training opportunities.”
