The University of Trieste welcomed hundreds of eager job seekers today for its annual Career Day, a hallmark event for students and companies alike, celebrating its 100th edition this year.
The “job@UniTS 2024 Centenary Edition” saw a robust turnout as 57 companies and organizations set up booths, offering a unique opportunity for university students and recent graduates to network, submit résumés, and attend workshops focused on professional development.
More than 600 participants registered for the event, which featured a range of activities aimed at enhancing employability in a challenging labor market. Among the offerings were seven job orientation workshops, attended by 330 participants, designed to help students navigate the complexities of their chosen industries and fine-tune their skills.
The event also hosted 19 virtual company presentations, drawing in 400 participants who tuned in to learn more about career prospects, company cultures, and specific job openings. In total, 4,400 résumés were submitted to recruiters throughout the day. The event showcased the efforts of both Italian and multinational companies, spanning sectors from technology to finance and healthcare.
Among the attendees was a large contingent of recruiters, 150 in total, making it one of the most substantial Career Day editions to date. Representatives from top employers conducted on-the-spot interviews, offering immediate feedback and potential job offers to standout candidates.
As the university celebrates its centenary, this year’s event underscored the crucial link between academic institutions and the job market, especially in a region where economic prospects are rapidly evolving.
“This is more than just an opportunity to meet future employers; it’s a chance to start shaping your career,” said Maria Grazia, a senior studying economics, who attended the event. “I feel hopeful about the future, knowing the university is providing us with direct access to top companies.”
The Career Day comes at a time when youth unemployment in Italy remains a key concern. The event’s success speaks to the growing importance of university-industry collaboration to support graduates entering the workforce.
As students left the event with newly gained insights and opportunities, the Centenary Edition stood as a symbol of the enduring relationship between education and the professional world.
