Trieste, a city known for its rich scientific heritage, is hosting the thirteenth edition of Trieste Next, Italy’s premier science research festival, beginning this Friday.
The three-day event will feature over 300 international speakers, including Nobel Prize-winning physicist Andre I. Geim and AI pioneer Michael Irwin Jordan of UC Berkeley.
Kicking off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Piazza Unità, the festival offers a diverse program aimed at both the public and students, with workshops, exhibitions, and discussions on pressing global issues such as climate change and artificial intelligence. Highlights include talks on the future of automation in logistics, the potential of AI to drive business growth, and a keynote lecture exploring whether computers can truly think.
The festival also includes the second edition of the “Science Book of the Year” award and a special appearance by Italy’s icebreaker vessel Laura Bassi, offering guided tours to the public.
With a wide range of events and world-class speakers, Trieste Next positions itself as a key gathering for both scientific minds and the broader community.
