Pallacanestro Trieste, following its recent return to Italy’s top basketball league, was introduced at a presentation in Piazza Unità d’Italia as part of a new partnership with the Barcolana regatta, one of the region’s most renowned cultural events. The collaboration highlights the prominence of Friuli Venezia Giulia in both the sports and cultural sectors.
The event, held at the PromoTurismoFVG stand during Barcolana 56, brought together key regional figures. Governor of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Massimiliano Fedriga, emphasized the importance of teamwork and collaboration in achieving significant outcomes. He remarked, “When several entities from the territory move together as a team, important results can be achieved.”
Pallacanestro Trieste’s return to Serie A has generated excitement locally, and the team’s partnership with Barcolana aims to unite two of the region’s most recognized institutions. The Friuli Venezia Giulia brand, “I am Friuli Venezia Giulia,” now features on the team’s red-and-white shorts, which Fedriga described as “an added value for the territory, considering the national and international visibility that Serie A basketball provides.”
In attendance were notable figures such as Regional Councillor for Environmental Protection Fabio Scoccimarro, Barcolana president Mitja Gjaluz, Pallacanestro Trieste general manager Michael Arcieri, and head coach Jamion Christian. This partnership represents a broader effort to promote the region through both sporting and cultural channels.
With this collaboration, Pallacanestro Trieste and Barcolana aim to reinforce the region’s identity, bringing greater visibility to Friuli Venezia Giulia on a national and international scale.
