The city of Trieste is stepping up efforts to assist 7,000 families in completing Italy’s national population and housing census, which runs through December 23. The census, overseen by the national statistics agency ISTAT, is legally required and crucial for shaping public policy based on demographic data.
Trieste officials unveiled several measures to ensure smooth participation, including a new Mobile Office, a census call center, and in-person help desks across the city. Families selected for the survey will receive instructions to complete the form online but can seek assistance if needed.
“Accurate census data is vital for understanding the needs of our community,” said Sandra Savino, Trieste’s Councillor for General Services. Non-compliance may result in fines, and starting November 12, surveyors will visit households that have yet to submit their forms.
