On Thursday, November 14, 2024, the Museo del Mare in Trieste will host a lecture by renowned naval historian Maurizio Eliseo, focusing on a pivotal era in naval interior design. The lecture, titled “Berlam, Ponti, Pulitzer-Finali, and Zoncada: A Turning Point in Naval Furnishing. 1925-1935”, will delve into the work of four influential architects who shaped the aesthetics of ocean liners during the early 20th century.

The event will take place at 5:30 PM in the museum’s educational space, located in Warehouse 26 of Trieste’s historic Porto Vecchio-Porto Vivo district. Eliseo will explore the groundbreaking contributions of architects Berlam, Ponti, Pulitzer-Finali, and Zoncada, whose designs helped redefine the luxurious interiors of ocean liners, marking a shift in the style and functionality of naval architecture.

Patrizia Fasolato, head of Trieste’s Scientific Museums, will introduce the lecture, which complements the museum’s ongoing exhibition “The Journey into Modernity. 1924-1938: Trieste in the Evolution of the Ocean Liner”. The exhibition highlights the city’s role in the transformation of maritime design during the interwar period.

This lecture is free to the public, but space is limited to 25 attendees. Reservations are required and can be made by emailing museomare@comune.trieste.it.
