Today, the Civic Museum of War for Peace Diego de Henriquez in Trieste will open its doors to history enthusiasts and locals alike with a free guided tour of its commemorative exhibition, Trieste Chronicles 1945-1954. Scheduled at 11:00 AM, this third-to-last tour in the series is part of an ongoing tribute to the 70th anniversary of Trieste’s return to Italy.

The exhibition is a visual time capsule, capturing the tumultuous period between 1945 and 1954, when Trieste was a battleground for sovereignty and cultural identity. Curated to highlight the city’s dramatic post-war experience, Trieste Chronicles offers a rare glimpse into archival photographs, personal artifacts, and media from the era, illustrating the complex interplay of politics, survival, and everyday life in a city that stood on the frontlines of the Cold War.

Located at Via dei Tominz 4, the Civic Museum offers access to the exhibition with a standard museum ticket. In keeping with its mission to engage the public in Trieste’s historical legacy, the museum is offering two additional free guided tours on November 21 and December 1, the latter falling on the first Sunday of the month, which will allow free entry to the exhibition and museum.

Visitors to the Diego de Henriquez Museum are encouraged to check the museum’s website, www.museodiegodehenriquez.it, for any updates on the exhibition. The website, along with other traditional information channels, will provide the latest information on this immersive experience into the heart of Trieste’s past.
