The Rossett’s dance season begins on Monday, November 18, with Il Mantello per Trieste(The Cloak for Trieste), a collaborative work by visual artist Elisabeth Masé and choreographer Tchekpo Dan Agbetou. The performance, presented in partnership with ArteffettoDanza and ITS Arcademy Museum of Art in Fashion, blends contemporary dance with African influences to explore themes of protection, identity, and transformation.
At the heart of the production is a red circular coat, originally created during a 2018 workshop in Benin led by Masé, where participants embroidered images, words, and symbols reflecting their personal perspectives on what is worth protecting. This concept has been transformed into a dance piece by Agbetou’s Tchekpo Dance Company, which integrates existential fears, personal aspirations, and cultural symbolism into its choreography.
The production is part of a broader collaboration between ITS Arcademy and the theater, celebrating Teatro Stabile’s 70th anniversary season. Ticket holders for performances at Politeama Rossetti through January 12 can visit ITS Arcademy free of charge, while museum visitors receive discounted tickets to select theater events.
The show will be performed for one night only on November 18 at Politeama Rossetti, with elements of the project showcased at ITS Arcademy from November 21 to 25.
