In a bid to tackle the city’s chronic parking shortages and facilitate holiday shopping, a new temporary parking lot has opened in Largo Città di Santos, near Piazza Unità. Located on the former site of the Sala Tripcovich, the supervised, free parking area will operate until January 31, 2025, from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
The lot, equipped by Confcommercio with 80 spaces and direct access to public transport, aims to accommodate residents and tourists during the busy holiday season. “This is a temporary but much-needed solution,” said Antonio Paoletti, president of Confcommercio, highlighting the city’s growing strain from tourism and cruise traffic.
Paoletti also emphasized the collaboration between Confcommercio and the municipal government, calling it a model for future projects addressing urban infrastructure challenges.
By providing easier access to the city center and promoting public transit use, the project supports both local commerce and sustainable mobility efforts.
