On December 19, the quiet Karst village of Opicina, just outside Trieste, will host the latest edition of its monthly market, A Well of Opportunities. Organized by the cultural association Cose di Vecchie Case, this special Christmas edition promises a festive display of antiques, vintage finds, and artisanal crafts. Entry to the event is free, and it will run from 8 a.m. until sunset, weather permitting.
The market has become a cherished fixture in Opicina, taking place every third Thursday of the month in partnership with the Municipality of Trieste. A stone wellhead from the era, originally part of a postal station in Opicina, now resides at Trieste’s Orto Lapidario, serving as a reminder of the village’s historical importance.
