Ski lovers in Friuli Venezia Giulia are ready for another exciting weekend on the slopes, as PromoTurismoFVG rolls out an expanded schedule of open pistes and ski lifts, preparing for the festive surge in visitors. Starting this weekend, ski resorts across the region will operate continuously, with additional snow parks and cross-country trails opening as the Christmas holidays approach.
To help visitors avoid long lines, ski passes will be available for purchase not only at the ticket counters at the six major ski resorts but also at automatic machines, online, and at a newly opened ticket hut in Amaro. The Amaro location will be open daily throughout the holiday season, offering a convenient alternative for skiers looking to hit the slopes with ease.
Opening Ski Areas
- Piancavallo: Starting Saturday, December 21, Piancavallo will be in full operation with the Daini and Genzianella carpets open daily, including school slopes and runs. The Casere and Busa Grande lifts will be operational, along with the Tremol 1 and Sole ski lifts. Several other slopes, including the Caprioli and Sauc runs, will also be open, as well as the 12-kilometer cross-country loop at Pian Mazzega. The summer bobsled track will operate on weekends.
- Sappada: The Pian dei Nidi and Eiben Col dei Mughi ski lifts will remain open throughout the season, with the Monte Siera lift, opening Friday, December 20, adding even more options. The Campetto 1 lift will be in operation, while Nevelandia will open on Christmas Day.
- Forni Avoltri: The Carnia Arena cross-country trail is open for 2 kilometers of skiing out of its 10-kilometer total.
- Forni di Sopra: The Varmost lifts 1, 2, and 3, as well as the Primi Passi carpet and the Davost lift, will operate, alongside the Fantasy Park, opening on Saturday.
- Sauris: The ski season officially kicks off Saturday, December 21, with the opening of the Sauris di Sopra carpet and school slope.
- Ravascletto/Zoncolan: The Monte Zoncolan Funifor and a variety of lifts will open with several slopes, including Zoncolan 2, 3 (high and low), Goles, and Tamai 1. Skiwegs and carpets will also be available.
- Tarvisio: Almost all lifts and slopes will be open, including the Di Prampero slope at Lussari, which will be accessible to both skiers and pedestrians. Additional slopes and skiwegs will be operational, and weekend bob rides and the Angelo Fun Park will offer even more winter fun.
- Sella Nevea: The Prevala Funifor (pedestrian only) and the Canin gondola will open, with access to the Canin Turistica slope and its variations. The Campo Scuola carpet will also be open.

Convenient Ski Pass Options
Ski passes can be purchased at the ticket counters across the six ski resorts, as well as at automatic machines located at Sella Nevea, Tarvisio, Zoncolan, Piancavallo, Sappada, and online through PromoTurismoFVG’s website. For those traveling through Amaro, a ticket hut at the highway exit will be open daily from December 20 to January 6, and weekdays from January 7 to March 3, 2025.
Starting Friday, December 20, ski passes will be available at high-season prices, with a daily pass costing 44 euros. Senior tickets are priced at 38.50 euros, while junior skiers and seniors over 75 pay 10 euros. Children under 6 ski for free. Additionally, Ski@ore passes (valid for 3, 4, or 5 hours) will be offered at the same rate as a full-day pass. Special discounts are also available through partnerships with Telepass, Despar, and Wiener Haus Udine, allowing for reduced pricing on passes.
For those in the Lignano Sabbiadoro area, the temporary “Io sono Friuli Venezia Giulia” store is offering a promotional ski pass at the price of 38.50 euros, available through January 6.
