The Civil Protection of Friuli Venezia Giulia has issued a yellow weather alert for the region, anticipating strong winds and significant weather changes in the coming hours. The warning will be in effect from midnight tonight through 12 PM tomorrow.
According to the regional weather bulletin, a cold front from the Atlantic is expected to cross the Alps from the north, triggering a shift in conditions that will bring instability and a surge of colder northern winds. This will result in overcast skies and varying precipitation levels across the region.
In the western areas, moderate rainfall is expected, while the eastern parts of Friuli Venezia Giulia could see heavy to intense downpours, potentially accompanied by thunderstorms. Snowfall is also anticipated, with snow levels dropping to 600–700 meters. Residents in higher altitudes should prepare for winter-like conditions.
Strong winds, typically from the north or northeast, are expected to sweep through the region, with gusts reaching locally intense speeds. While the plains will experience a reduction in both precipitation and wind by mid-morning, the coastal areas will continue to be buffeted by sustained Bora winds.
As the day progresses, conditions are expected to improve, with clearer skies in the afternoon. However, authorities urge residents to remain cautious due to the unpredictable weather and potential hazards from both high winds and snow.
