Trieste’s Politeama Rossetti will kick off the new year with a high-energy production of the beloved musical Grease, performed by Italy’s acclaimed Compagnia della Rancia. Directed by Saverio Marconi, this latest iteration of the 1971 Broadway classic will feature performances on December 31 at 9:30 PM, complete with a celebratory toast, and on January 1 at 5:00 PM.
Since its Italian debut in 1997, Grease has captivated audiences with its timeless story of teenage love, friendship, and rock ‘n’ roll, becoming a cultural phenomenon with over two million spectators to date. This updated production stars Eleonora Buccarini as Sandy and Tommaso Pieropan as Danny, supported by a vibrant young cast embodying the iconic Pink Ladies and T-Birds.
The creative team has refreshed the show with new choreography by Gillian Bruce and over 80 vivid costumes designed by Chiara Donato, while the classic soundtrack—including hits like Greased Lightnin’ and You’re the One That I Want—remains at its heart.
