A shift in atmospheric conditions is bringing colder, drier air to the region this weekend, as the Azores High expands toward the United Kingdom and a low-pressure system develops over the Mediterranean.
According to Osmer, the regional meteorological service, the forecast for today calls for clear skies accompanied by a moderate Bora wind. In the city of Trieste, the famed wind could intensify, with strong gusts expected by evening.
Temperatures will reflect the arrival of this winter chill. Minimum readings are predicted to range from 2 to 4 degrees Celsius (36 to 39 degrees Fahrenheit), while daytime highs will hover between 5 and 8 degrees Celsius (41 to 46 degrees Fahrenheit).
The Bora, a signature element of Trieste’s weather, has been known to bring both challenges and charm to this northeastern Italian city. As residents brace for a gusty evening, the weekend offers a glimpse of the season’s more dramatic weather patterns.
Bora is expected to be much stronger this Monday, 13 January.
