Trieste’s cultural calendar kicks off 2025 with a focus on Mozart’s “The Abduction from the Seraglio” as part of the “Monday at the Schmidl” series. The event, scheduled for Monday, January 13, 2025, at 5:30 PM, will take place at the Carlo Schmidl Civic Theater Museum and features insights from director Oscar Cecchi and renowned RaiRadioTre host Michele Suozzo.

This introduction to Mozart’s opera coincides with a new production at Teatro Verdi, running January 17–26, directed by Ivan Stefanutti and conducted by Beatrice Venezi, with Paolo Longo as Chorus Master. The Singspiel, a landmark in Mozart’s career, debuted in Vienna in 1782 and has had a limited history in Trieste, with the last staging in 2006.

The free event will include musical excerpts, videos, and analysis of the opera’s unique alla turca orchestration, which combines comedic characterizations with rich cultural influences. Reservations are encouraged via info@amiciliricaviozzi.it. For details, visit museoschmidl.it.
