A major demonstration is set to take place in Trieste on Saturday at 9.30 am as trade unions and industry associations rally in support of workers affected by industrial crises at Flex, Tirso, and U-Blox. The protest, expected to draw significant crowds, highlights the growing unease over job security in the Giulian area, a region historically tied to manufacturing and technology.
The demonstration was organized in response to ongoing job losses and economic uncertainty, with workers demanding urgent intervention from local and national authorities. Trade unions have called for stronger measures to protect employment and ensure industrial stability in the region.
Regional labor official Alessia Rosolen has announced her participation in the protest, reaffirming the Region’s commitment to supporting the workforce. “I will be in the square alongside the workers of Flex, Tirso, and U-Blox, together with trade unions and industry associations,” Rosolen said in a statement on Tuesday. “This reaffirms the Region’s ongoing commitment to implementing every possible measure to safeguard the industrial fabric and jobs in the Giulian area.”
According to Rosolen, the three companies facing crises are each dealing with unique challenges, requiring tailored policy interventions. “We will not tolerate actions that harm the region,” she said. “We will act decisively, using all available tools, as we have done in the past.”
Saturday’s demonstration is expected to be a turning point in ongoing labor disputes, as workers and union leaders push for concrete solutions to prevent further layoffs and industrial decline. The event underscores the high stakes for the region’s economic future and the political pressures facing officials tasked with finding a resolution.
