Italian singer Olly has emerged victorious at the 75th edition of the Sanremo Music Festival, clinching the prestigious title with his song Balorda Nostalgia. The 23-year-old artist was announced as the winner late Saturday night, triumphing over a competitive field in Italy’s most celebrated musical event.

Olly, born Federico Olivieri in Genoa in 2001, secured the top spot ahead of Lucio Corsi, who finished second, followed by Brunori Sas in third place, Fedez in fourth, and Simone Cristicchi in fifth. This year’s edition of Sanremo featured 29 competing acts and was hosted by veteran broadcaster Carlo Conti.

The singer’s win marks a milestone in his career, having previously participated in the festival in 2023 with the song Polvere. His victory follows that of Angelina Mango, who took home the Sanremo title last year with La Noia.

As is tradition, the Sanremo champion is granted the opportunity to represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest, set to take place in Basel on May 17. While participation is not automatic, Olly’s decision on whether to compete in Eurovision is expected to be announced on Sunday.

Sanremo, a cultural touchstone in Italy, has long served as a launchpad for some of the country’s most iconic musical talents. With his win, Olly joins an illustrious list of past victors, further cementing his place in Italy’s contemporary music scene.
