A bomb threat at the Trieste courthouse on Tuesday morning led to the immediate evacuation of the building and a swift response from law enforcement and bomb disposal experts. Authorities launched a full-scale security operation, blocking access to the courthouse and rerouting traffic in the surrounding area as they assessed the credibility of the threat.

According to initial reports, the alarm was raised shortly after the courthouse opened, triggering moments of anxiety among court employees, lawyers, and visitors. Local police and specialized bomb disposal units quickly arrived at the scene, securing the perimeter and beginning a thorough inspection of the premises.

“We are taking all necessary precautions to ensure public safety,” a police spokesperson told reporters outside the courthouse. “At this stage, we cannot confirm whether the threat is credible or a false alarm, but our teams are conducting extensive checks.”

The bomb squad initiated a meticulous sweep of the building, using specialized equipment to detect any potential explosive devices. As of midday, no suspicious items had been found, but security officials said the investigation remained ongoing.

The incident caused significant traffic disruptions in central Trieste, with Coroneo Street, Fabio Severo Street, and several adjacent roads closed to both vehicles and pedestrians. Commuters faced heavy congestion as police redirected traffic away from the courthouse area.

“It’s complete gridlock,” said Luca Martini, a local resident who was caught in the delays. “The entire area around the courthouse is blocked off, and it’s creating major disruptions.”

While authorities have yet to determine the origin of the threat, officials urged the public to remain vigilant. The courthouse will remain closed until security personnel complete their investigation.
