On Friday, February 21, at 6:00 PM, the Rossetti theater will host an evening of literary and theatrical exploration at Sala Bartoli, featuring acclaimed Italian actor and director Sergio Rubini. Titled Quei bravi ragazzi di Jekyll & Hyde (The Goodfellas of Jekyll & Hyde), the discussion will center on Il caso Jekyll, a theatrical adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

Rubini, alongside the play’s cast, will join Laura Pelaschiar, Associate Professor of English Literature at the University of Trieste, to delve into the creative and psychological dimensions of the production. Admission is free on a first-come, first-served basis.

The conversation will provide audiences with deeper insight into both Stevenson’s novel and the adaptation developed by Carla Cavalluzzi and Rubini, who also serves as the play’s director. Speaking about the approach taken, Rubini described the production as a journey into the subconscious: “Stevenson’s novel is fundamentally an exploration of the human condition, built around the theme of duality—the duality that exists within all of us. Our adaptation takes a more explicitly psychoanalytic perspective, transforming the play into an exploration of the unconscious.”

This event is part of a broader effort by the Teatro Stabile del Friuli Venezia Giulia to foster dialogue between literature and the performing arts, bringing audiences closer to the creative processes behind major theatrical productions.
