A mobile educational unit operated by the Italian State Police arrived in Trieste on Sunday as part of Una Vita da Social, a nationwide campaign aimed at raising awareness about online safety among young students. The initiative, conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Merit, is designed to address the risks associated with social media and internet use, including cyberbullying, online grooming, and digital privacy.
The traveling unit, a specially equipped truck, is making stops in both Trieste and Gorizia as part of its regional tour. In Trieste, officers met with middle school students from the Giancarlo Roli Comprehensive State Institute, as well as fourth and fifth graders from Ferruccio Dardi, Scipio Slataper, and Collegio delle Dimesse primary schools.
Local officials, including Regional Councillor for Security Pierpaolo Roberti, Trieste’s Police Chief Pietro Ostuni, and Deputy Prefect Emanuela Milan, welcomed the students in Piazza Unità d’Italia. The event emphasized the importance of early education on digital responsibility.
“With children gaining access to social media and smartphones at an increasingly young age, it is crucial to introduce preventive measures early,” said Tiziana Pagnozzi, director of the regional Cybersecurity Operations Center for the Postal Police. “This initiative provides students with direct engagement opportunities to learn about safe internet practices and how to seek help if needed.”
The campaign, part of Italy’s broader Connected Generations project, seeks to equip young users with the tools to navigate the digital world responsibly.
