The Sandrinelli tunnel, a key urban passageway connecting Piazza Goldoni and Piazza del Sansovino, was reopened to vehicular traffic this morning, ahead of the initially planned completion date. The tunnel, which runs beneath the San Giusto hill, is an essential route for the city’s daily traffic flow.
The reopening comes a few days earlier than expected, following maintenance work that began on February 7. The project involved significant upgrades to the water network, including the replacement of a pipeline running under the tunnel.
Work will continue in the coming weeks, with the next phase set to begin on March 1 at the intersection of Piazza Sansovino, Via Madonnina, and Via Bernini. These final operations will require lane reductions as the remaining hydraulic tasks are completed.
