The Civico Museo Teatrale “Carlo Schmidl” and the “Giuseppe Tartini” Conservatory will launch the spring 2025 edition of Le Stanze della Musica on March 5. The series, which runs through May 14, offers ten events highlighting a variety of musical instruments through guided presentations and live performances.

The program follows a format that has been well received in previous editions, pairing historical insights into the museum’s instrument collection with performances by students and faculty from the Tartini Conservatory. Events will take place at Palazzo Gopcevich, located in Via Rossini 4.

Each session will be held on Wednesdays, with a morning program at 11:00 a.m. for school groups and a public performance at 5:30 p.m.. The morning sessions are tailored for students, particularly those from music-focused schools, with an admission fee of €1. The afternoon events require standard museum entry, with general admission set at €5 and discounted rates available.

The series will open with a focus on the double bass, featuring students of Professor Stefano Sciascia and pianist Rossella Fracaros. Performers will present works by Franz Joseph Haydn, Igor Stravinsky, Sergei Prokofiev, Gustav Mahler, Domenico Dragonetti, Paul Hindemith, Adolf Mišek, Colin Brumby, and Giovanni Bottesini, among others.

Subsequent sessions will explore a range of instruments:

  • March 12: Recorder and traverso flute (Prof. Manuel Staropoli)
  • March 19: Percussion (Prof. Ivan Mancinelli)
  • March 26: Accordion (Prof. Corrado Rojac)
  • April 2: Clarinet (Prof. Davide Teodoro)
  • April 9: Oboe and bassoon (Profs. Pietro Milella and Sergio Lazzeri)
  • April 16: Cello (Prof. Federico Magris)
  • April 30: Chamber music (Prof. Paola La Raja)
  • May 7: Wind instruments in ensemble music (Prof. Antonio Fracchiolla)
  • May 14: Dialogue between voice and piano (Profs. Fabrizio Del Bianco and Cinzia De Mola)

For school groups interested in attending the morning sessions, reservations are required and can be made via email at museoschmidl@comune.trieste.it. Additional details are available at www.museoschmidl.it.
