On March 21, coinciding with World Poetry Day, the city of Trieste will host the annual Premio Umberto Saba Poesiaceremony, honoring poet Stefano Dal Bianco. The award, now in its fifth edition, is presented by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and the Municipality of Trieste in collaboration with LETS Letteratura Trieste and curated by the Fondazione Pordenonelegge.it.

Dal Bianco, a Padua-born poet, will be recognized for his collection Paradiso (Garzanti) during an event at the LETS Letteratura Trieste Museum in Piazza Hortis. The ceremony, scheduled for 6 p.m., will include a discussion on the themes of the winning work, featuring Dal Bianco alongside members of the award’s jury: poets Claudio Grisancich (jury president), Franca Mancinelli, Antonio Riccardi, and Gian Mario Villalta, as well as literary critic Roberto Galaverni.

The event is free to the public, with advance reservations required by March 20. Any remaining seats will be available to attendees on the day of the event. Further details are available on the Pordenonelegge website.

Following the ceremony, on March 22, Dal Bianco will lead a poetry workshop at the LETS Museum, open to the public.

The Premio Saba Poesia was first awarded in 2021 to Umberto Piersanti, followed by Milo De Angelis in 2022, Vivian Lamarque in 2023, and Antonella Anedda in 2024.
