The Municipality of Trieste has announced a road rehabilitation project set to begin on March 24, 2025, as part of its Three-Year Public Works Plan. The initiative, overseen by the Department of Territory, Environment, Public Works, and Heritage, will focus on resurfacing and repairing several key roads across the city.
The project, listed under code 21005, will involve milling, repairs to degraded road sections, asphalt repaving, and the installation of new horizontal road markings. Officials estimate that the work will take approximately 20 days, though progress will be dependent on weather conditions.
Among the affected areas are:
- Via Carnaro: A deep rehabilitation of damaged sections between the tunnel exit and the Strada di Cattinara junction. The work is expected to last three days and will require lane narrowing and alternating one-way traffic, managed by traffic controllers.
- Via San Pasquale: Repairs will take place from Collodi Primary School to building number 137, near the Ferdinandeo intersection. This section will undergo five days of work, also requiring lane narrowing and alternating one-way traffic.
- Via Valerio: Repairs will be conducted in segments along the downhill stretch between Via dello Scoglio and Piazzale Europa. This phase will last three days, with similar traffic measures in place.
- Via Refosco: Work will be concentrated near the ecological island at the intersection with Via di Basovizza. The affected area will be closed to traffic for three days.
The contract for the project has been awarded to GHIAIE PONTEROSSO Srl, with engineering oversight provided by Gustavo Zandanel. Site supervision will be carried out by engineers Luca Folin and Paolo Giorgi. The total cost of the project is estimated at €500,000.
Municipal officials encourage residents and commuters to plan accordingly, as traffic disruptions are expected throughout the project’s duration.
