Museums in Friuli Venezia Giulia are undergoing a transformation, as the regional government launches an ambitious plan to digitize collections, enhance accessibility, and create a modern, interconnected cultural network.
At the core of this initiative is a push toward technological innovation. Augmented and virtual reality will allow visitors to experience history in immersive ways, while 3D modeling will resurrect lost artifacts. Sustainability is also a priority, with energy-efficient renovations and eco-friendly exhibition designs. Accessibility measures, including multilingual guides and accommodations for disabilities, will make museums more inclusive than ever.
Collaboration with schools and universities will turn museums into learning hubs, engaging students in research and creative programming. Meanwhile, global outreach efforts—including international partnerships and traveling exhibitions—will elevate Friuli Venezia Giulia’s cultural presence on the world stage.
“This is about more than preserving history,” said Regional Councillor for Culture, Mario Anzil. “It’s about making it relevant for the future.”
As these changes unfold, the region’s museums are set to redefine how history is experienced, ensuring that culture remains a vibrant force for generations to come.
