The seventh installment of the “Le stanze della musica” (“The Rooms of Music”) concert series will take place Wednesday, April 16, at Palazzo Gopcevich, with a program dedicated to the cello. The event is part of the Spring 2025 edition of the popular musical initiative hosted by the Museo Teatrale Carlo Schmidl.

Designed as a hybrid between guided tour and live performance, the series offers visitors an immersive exploration of individual instruments from the museum’s collection. Each session highlights a different instrument, with commentary and performances by students and instructors from the Tartini Conservatory.

This week’s focus is on the cello, with cellist and instructor Federico Magris leading the event alongside a group of his students: Iryna Bobyreva, Davide Kuhar, Andrijana Dabovic, Clara Di Giusto, Emanuele Francesco Ruzzier, Iva Vilic, Julia Edaich, Lana Obrenovic, and Una Susnica. The young musicians will be accompanied on piano by Mizuho Furukubo in a program that includes selections by Gaspar Cassadó, Édouard Lalo, Gioachino Rossini, Georg Goltermann, George Frideric Handel, and Friedrich Grützmacher.

The event begins at 5:30 p.m. and is open to the public with regular museum admission. A morning session at 11 a.m. is reserved for school groups, particularly those with a musical focus, and includes a discounted ticket price of one euro. Advance booking is required for schools and can be arranged via email at museoschmidl@comune.trieste.it.

The spring series continues through May 14, with future events highlighting chamber music (April 30) and wind instruments in ensemble performance (May 7). All events are held on Wednesdays, with the exception of April 23.
