From May 6 to 15, the Sala Umberto Veruda in Palazzo Costanzi will host “Into the Fire,” a photo and video exhibition documenting a year of global conflicts through the work of journalists associated with the Grilz Award.

The exhibition features contributions from members of the award jury—including veteran war correspondents Fausto Biloslavo, Gian Micalessin, and Francesco Semprini—as well as reportage from the inaugural award recipients: Luca Steinmann, Alfredo Bosco, Salvatore Garzillo, Elia Milani, and Karolina Chernoivan.

A section of the show is dedicated to a recent mission to Mozambique, where Biloslavo and Micalessin returned to the burial site of journalist Almerigo Grilz, killed in 1987 while covering the country’s civil war. A memorial plaque has been placed at the site, which the exhibition describes as emblematic of Mozambique’s transformation and growing geopolitical relevance, particularly in the context of Italy’s Mattei Plan for Africa.

Ahead of the opening, the Friuli Venezia Giulia regional government will host a presentation of the Grilz Award, which supports young reporters committed to field-based journalism.

The exhibition is free and open to the public daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
