The University of Trieste will hold the first round of voting today, Tuesday, May 6, 2025, to elect its next rector for the 2025–2031 term.
The candidates are Professors Ilaria Garofolo and Donata Vianelli, both members of the university’s academic faculty. Their candidacies were formally presented in recent weeks, accompanied by detailed professional profiles and official photographs.
Voting will take place online from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time. Results are expected to be announced after the conclusion of the electoral commission’s work, no earlier than 7:00 p.m., through an official press release and the university’s social media channels.
The newly elected rector will succeed the outgoing leadership of Roberto Di Lenarda and is expected to serve a six-year term, guiding the university through a new academic and administrative cycle.
