Patrizia Castaldini, who recently took office as the first female prosecutor of Trieste, was formally introduced at a ceremony attended by prominent members of the judiciary from Friuli Venezia Giulia, alongside the national anti-mafia prosecutor.
Castaldini, 61, originally from Ferrara, brings over three decades of experience in the judiciary, with half of that time spent in various legal roles. In her first remarks to the press, she expressed her commitment to the region and its needs.
Castaldini, who began her career as a prosecutor in Calabria, also revealed plans to focus on addressing domestic violence cases, an area where Trieste has one of the highest rates of reported incidents in Italy.
