MEM illegal opened in December 2019, in via Torino 30.

MEM is a unique bar and restaurant, which also exhibits vintage objects, like the engines of two helicopters, signboards of well-known brands and shops, old posters, banknotes from around the world, helmets, old bikes and a 1,500 can beer collection.

Curiosities include a life-size reproduction of Freddy Krueger, a maxi teddy bear and a snow motorbike. Not to mention a lamp on skis, a mine wagon on the roof and other peculiar ornaments.

The owner is a young man, Erick Dissette, who often injects the place with novelty ideas. Everything in MEM is for sale and comes from every corner of the planet.

MEM’s menu is noteworthy, with a long list of beers and the so-called MEM’s plate: a big chopping board with meat and vegetables that friends can eat together. You can also order a chopping board of omelettes, with chocolate or marmalade on the side, or simply have a drink and play with an old pinball – one of the few left in Trieste. MEM has recently opened in Pavia di Udine and Barcellona.

“I’m a professional journalist and I work for various editorial offices. I handle communication for companies and associations, and write ironic books on some peculiarities of Trieste. A traveler for work and a globetrotter for passion, I love Trieste – my hometown.”
