Grand opening of the EuroScience Open Forum took place on Wednesday, 2 September, at the new Trieste Convention Centre in the Old Port.

A grand opportunity for Trieste, which has been named the European City of Science 2020, to host the ninth edition of ESOF. Many high-level participants were present at the opening on Wednesday, among which FVG Region president Massimiliano Fedriga and the city of Trieste’s mayor Roberto Dipiazza.

The EuroScience Open Forum is the most relevant European event focused on the intersection between science, technology, society and politics. The forum offers a unique opportunity for interaction and debate between scientists, innovators, politicians, entrepreneurs, communications operators, and citizens.

“The 2020 edition is the first major international event after the pandemic,” underlined FVG Region President Massimiliano Fedriga. “It is an occasion that reinforces the feeling of joy with which Trieste and Friuli Venezia Giulia host the event, but it’s also a tangible sign of a territory that acts together with the scientific community to generate new opportunities for relaunching.”

The Old Port, where the opening took place, is also home to several art exhibitions that complement the themes of the forum.
