Italy is considering a nationwide 9 pm curfew as the government struggles to stem the spread of the virus outbreak.

Italy recorded its highest daily infection rate for the second day in a row, to which Lombardy and Campania regions responded with a midnight – 5 am curfew.

“We will continue monitoring the virus trend,” said PM Conte, “but the way things are going, we cannot exclude the possibility of a lockdown.”

The Italian government has given itself 10 days until the new decree is out to decide on the possible nationwide curfew, after which residents will only be permitted to leave home for “reasons of necessity or urgency” such as work or health.

In the local news, FVG’s president Fedriga said that a possible lockdown will “hobble the economy” and thus we must continue doing our best to avoid such drastic measures.
