Hundreds of theaters across Friuli Venezia Giulia are expected to light up their buildings tonight to express solidarity and draw attention to the critical condition of the live performance industry.
While most other public spaces have been allowed to resume business, live performance hasn’t been able to safely return due to social distancing.
The initiative aims to shine a light on the businesses and workers whose jobs are at risk as a result of the pandemic, with many theaters taking part this Monday, 22 February, exactly one year since the first COVID-19 case was discovered in Italy in the town of Codogno. The theaters across FVG will be lit up from 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm.
Trieste’s Rossetti Theater will be lit all day and everyone is invited to pass by and leave a note saying what’s it like not be able to go to the theater these days.
