It is a truth universally acknowledged that if you let a few days go by a new governmental decree will come out. Around 7 pm, March 19th, Friuli Venezia Giulia’s governor Massimiliano Fedriga, a 42 year old local who has been in politics for more than twenty years, announced that even stricter measures had to be taken to contain the spread of the infamous virus. As of March, 20th nobody is allowed to go out for a walk or go for a run in the park as all physical activity all’aperto is prohibited since some Triestini didn’t care to hunker down. All parks will remain closed and supermarkets won’t be open on Sundays. As always, when you go out (strictly for work, food or medical reasons) don’t forget to carry the self-declaration with you. Alas Mr Fedriga forgot to wish everyone a happy official first day of spring. We on the other hand hope you get to enjoy birds singing and trees changing colors from your windows and balconies (if you are lucky enough to have them).
