To celebrate In Trieste’s one year birthday, we asked our writers to choose the books connected to Trieste they love and read an abstract from them.
Theresa Conti, In Trieste’s Life Coach, is reading quotes by James Joyce.

Nice, Theresa! I haven’t read Ulysses but thanks for the introduction. The background was a nice touch on a beautiful day in trieste.
Hi Stacey,
Thanks so much for your comment. So glad you enjoyed the introduction to Ulysses, and a bit of our beautiful city.
All the best,
Theresa
Thank you Theresa to the introduction to Ulysses as well as to the lovely city of Trieste. Even though I was an English major, I had never read this novel by Joyce. You have wet my appetite to pick up the book and to visit your beautiful town, home to my husband’s grandmother.
Hi Lisa!
Thanks for posting your comments. I’ve recently learned that there is a free copy of Ulysses online. And how cool that your husband’s grandmother was from Trieste. You must come for a visit!
Thank you for this presentation. Hearing about Joyce’s history and his time in Trieste helped to bring Ulysses’s writing to life. The bustling modern setting, and view of the bridge in the background, served as a virtual bridge from the past to the present. Joyce’s quotes are as relevant now as they were when first published!
Very well done Theresa!
Hi Carrie!
Thanks so much for your comments. I’m delighted that you enjoyed the video and that the history and details about his time in Trieste helped bring Ulysses to life. I felt the same as I was researching his history for the video – it made it much more fun and exciting!
Thanks again!
Warmly,
Theresa
Beautifully read. Beautifully done. Especially the poem about always meeting ourselves and life as a mirror.
Thanks for sharing with such enthusiasm, and for the work you do with others in helping them to meet themselves where they are.
Beautiful.
Dear Susan,
Thanks so much for your comments. Actually, the poem about meeting ourselves and life as a mirror was one of my comments, rather than part of Joyce’s quote (-: I’m so happy that you enjoyed it.
Wishing you all the best.
Many blessings,
Theresa
