Italy, represented by Maneskin pop rock band, has been crowned the 2021 winner of the Eurovision Song Contest. This means Italy is going to host the song contest in the year 2022. We can’t help but wonder, could Trieste be among the potential cities to welcome the international event?

The Eurovision Song Contest, the first major global cultural event to be held in person since the coronavirus pandemic hit last year, ended in a triumph for Italy’s Maneskin, who won with a hard-rocking song called “Zitti E Buoni.”

As per Eurovision rules, the country that wins the contest is to host next year’s event, which means Italy has been given a chance to step back on the global arena. The last time Italy hosted Eurovision was in 1991 in the city of Rome. Perhaps it could be Trieste’s turn next year?

What does it take to become a Eurovision host city?

The venue should accommodate around 10,000 spectators

The city should be within easy reach of an international airport.

The location must have enough hotel accommodation for at least 2,000 delegates, accredited journalists and spectators.

As far as we’re concerned, it’s check check check!

We’ve been exchanging emails with the Eurovision team to see if our city could be the one as all we can think of is- why not Trieste?
